Week 11 Post

This week has been quite hectic! The STEAM Days fair had a turnout far larger than I would have expected, and with a number of little friends that were a pleasant surprise to host. Something interesting I found at that fair was the Central Arizona Project's stand. In a rather fascinating conversation, I found that it's likely (or so they say) Arizona's best kept secret as the backbone of water infrastructure for most of the state! Apparently, though, the stuff they use to communicate across the 300-odd mile stretch of...water and assorted materials is so important that most of it isn't even connected to the internet! And yet another really cool thing about the CAP is that they actually contract a ton of small business owners to do things for them, which seems a really great way to give back to the community.

While I don't have many pictures of the fair (any, in fact - I was running the MESA table), I do have a picture of the Central Arizona Project's map to give you an idea of how...backbone-y they are!
